Arizona Corvette Racing at Circuit of The Americas – April 2015

ACR members Hunter Bennett, Nick Fisher and Mark Fisher had the opportunity to head out to Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas in April of 2015 with ProAutoSports and Speed Ventures. This was an extraordinary track experience with several high-speed sections, lots of technical turns and an intimidating elevation at the end of the front straight. Back straight was very quick with speeds between 150 and 160 mph not uncommon in the Corvette C6 z06. The surface of the track was very smooth and not something to which we were accustomed. Nearly no tire wear after 7 sessions and very few marbles on the track. Video below features a hot lap on Sunday from Hunter Bennett’s third and final session of the weekend. Damaging the walls at this track carried a fairly hefty price tag (and that doesn’t include the damage to the car or driver…so we took it easy and made sure we were always in control and able to head back to Arizona in one piece to share with other ACR members.) We hope to be able to make it out to COTA again in 2016…terrific experience!

COTA attracts the track day elite. While there, we had the opportunity to spy some amazing vehicles in the flesh. In a sea of high-end exotics including McLaren’s, Lotus, Ferrari, Viper ACR’s, Ford GT’s, we got to get up close with a Porsche 918 Spyder! See the gallery below for images.
